Every time I looked at it from then on was upside down. I realised that most of the time I had only been seeing things from her point of view. There's a point in every relationship when you think everything is perfect or beyond perfect. You feel accomplished and complete. The more you think about it the more you realise, 'This is it.'
Yet it isn't. It never is. Unless I can define what ‘it’ is. I mean,
lying around on pillows having funny chats between long bouts of
lovemaking is it, up to a point. Having funny sex and long chats.
Whatever.
Then it seems as if everything is in agreement. The planets and stars are aligned, the buttons on your coat are straight, the hand fits into the other hand like a glove. The heady days of love are the best bits. They're also the worst. The more high those moments peak, the more they trough when you fall backwards through it all.
