323BC DIED: Alexander the Great, 33, Macedonian king, conqueror, undefeated in battle, most successful military commander in history

Sir - in the herewith quoted text, as published by you on your website today there is an outrageous libel which I believe in the strongest possible terms that you should retract forthwith:
"Monkey business proved to be lucrative Monday when paintings by Congo the chimpanzee sold at auction for more than $25,000."
It falls to me to point out, regretfully, and on behalf of those less ignoramical, that these animals herewith referred to above are not, in fact, monkeys at all. Chimpanzees are, in fact, a type of great ape, a bit like yourself.
As many humans are aware, these animals are our closest living relatives and I respectfully suggest, sir, that your remarks are ipso facto prejudicial to the species and that you would be well advised to withdraw them, post haste.
Throughout your article the tone of your voice can clearly be heard. "The sale price surpassed predictions," and the suggestion by the curator that "We just put them in for our own amusement."
Yet this prodigious output by Congo, the chimp there, in ANY OTHER SPECIES would be regarded as the opus of an unfettered genius. As your own report states, "Congo, born in 1954, produced about 400 drawings and paintings between ages 2 and 4" and the human species' own most prestigious and prodigious painter, the priapic Picasso even had the pongoid’s work hanging in his studio, no doubt inspiring his head.
Furthermore, I suggest, respectfully, that you're xenogenophobia is ABHORRENT and MORALLY REPUGNANT as well as dreadfully PATRONISING. And of course chimpanzees and other anthropoids CAN paint, sure they just never needed to, so don't act so surprised.
Therefore, on behalf of our great cousins who cannot email for themselves, because, generally speaking, they are DENIED access to the internet I would suggest you to withdraw aforementioned offensive remarks.
I would also like to comment that the picture on sale was quite beautiful and that I'm an avid reader of your volume.
With regards
Mick
